Announcement: News of District Award from Bali Semi-Annual Convention

Christopher and Peng Yew, congratulations to both of you!
We are proud of your achievement!!

District Toastmaster Of The Year 2007-2008: Mandy Ong Shiow Yee (Div P - Satu Hati Toastmasters Club)

District 51 Area Governor Of The Year 2007-2008: Christopher Choong, CC, CL (Div S - Dell Penang Toastmasters Club) wow !!

District 51 Division Governor Of The Year 2007-2008: Yoon Peng Yew, ACS, CL (Div S - Vista Penang Toastmasters Club) wow !!

(News Source: This is District news extended from LGET Ritchie's blog - http://ritchierc.blogspot.com/)

Reply message from Immediate Past Division S Governor, Yoon Peng Yew, ACS, CL:

Thank you everyone!
This is the combines achievement of Division S and every one of you. May this inspire the new Division S team to keep our ship sailing and the momentum going for this term so that members and clubs can continue to benefit even more from the Toastmasters program.

Here's the Bali Convention in brief.
1. Contests

Our Division S Evaluation Champion Lilian demonstrated a commendable effort in the Run Off B (semi-finals) on Saturday. We are proud of you, Lilian!
Meanwhile, May Cheah from Taiping, using Sukhdev Singh as a human prop, emerged 3rd in Humorous Speech Contest Finals.

Humorous Speech Contest Winners:
1st: Stephen Fernando -- Division C
2nd: Roger Charles McGowan -- Division W
3rd: May Cheah -- Division S

Evaluation Contest Winners:
1st: Michael Xavier -- Division N
2nd: John Lee -- Division W
3rd: Ahmad Fakri -- Division P

2. Keynote Speakers
International Director for DNAR (Districts Not Assigned to Regions, i.e. outside USA) Poh Kim Siong, DTM and World Championship Runner-Up Loghandran were featured. Loghandran imparted his personal experience and words of wisdom about not giving up after failures, and about his victory being a milestone for all of us "rice-eating people" -- we have the ability to be World Class. The video recording of Loghandran's winning speech "Finding The Rhythm" was also played.

3. Hall of Fame
The District will be delivering trophies to winning clubs for Distinguished Clubs, Select Distinguished Clubs and President's Distinguished Clubs.
Toastmaster of the Year went to Mandy Ong of Division P, Area Governor of the Year went to our Christopher Choong of Division S, and Division Governor of the Year went to someone you know. Division S nearly made a clean sweep of these awards!

4. Coming Conventions.
Apr 2009 Annual Convention: Kuching.
Nov 2009 Semi-Annual Convention: Jakarta .
Apr 2010 Annual Convention: Lutong, Miri
(the Final Convention before D51 splits to two districts) .
The 2010 International Convention's venue has been changed from Sydney, Australia, to Palm Springs, California, USA. (otherwise, it would have been the first one outside North America)

5. Sight-Seeing, Shopping & Photos
More about this later.. Our LGET's blog captures some of the moments (
http://ritchierc.blogspot.com/).

Once again, thank you for your dedication in serving the members and clubs of Division S.

Regards,
py
